    • I wish! Still looking for traditional publishing avenue. I may have to e-publish again. I’ll certainly post on the site when either happens. Thanks for the interest — I hope you enjoyed the first one.

  1. I saw the piece you did few days back. I did a similar one a number of months back that I got around widely at the time, though not formally published. I am sending it around widely again now..Maybe you will enjoy, Neil

    DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE FROM PRESIDENT TRUMP*

    When in the course of human events it becomes necessary for the American people to dissolve the political bonds
    which connect them to their President, a decent respect for the opinions of humankind requires that they should
    declare the causes that compel this situation.

    We hold these truths to be self-evident, that our President displays a vulgarity, an immaturity, and a contempt for
    honesty and fair-mindedness. His Administration is destructive to our politics, damaging to our democratic standards,
    and detrimental to our foreign relations. All Americans deserve a responsible Presidency, for we are endowed by
    our Creator with inalienable rights that can never be compromised. To secure these rights, governments are
    created by their citizens, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. However, when any
    Administration becomes destructive to this structure and purpose, it is the right of the people to alter and if
    necessary remove it in the interest of establishing a new Administration that will serve and respect all members of
    society.

    The President should never be removed for small reasons. But when there is a train of oppressions and misconduct
    that could damage our democracy, it is the duty of America’s citizens to promote new standards that will guarantee
    their future liberty and sovereignty. The American people have been patient, but there is an increased necessity for
    all citizens to strongly confront this Administration. The Trump Presidency has a history of repeated injustices
    imposed on the American people. To prove the veracity of this claim, let these considerations be submitted to all
    who love freedom, democracy, and fair treatment for all.

    He views a free press as a contemptible enemy to be derided and tamed;

    He displays a contempt for facts, a predilection for lies, and a disdain for scientific expertise and knowledge;

    He has shown a disregard for the separation of powers enshrined in our Constitution; for example,
    he has tried to influence criminal investigations;

    He has been accused of sexual misconduct and predatory behavior by multiple parties;

    He has failed to act according to the principles of the “Sermon on the Mount”, even though he claims to be Christian;

    He has alienated and confused America’s closest allies;

    He wants churches to become partisan organizations, threatening the separation of church and state;

    He seems more willing than other recent previous Presidents to consider the first use of nuclear weapons;

    He regularly responds to public opposition with personal attacks;

    He has shown an affinity for foreign autocratic leaders;

    He has undervalued and underutilized diplomacy in America’s relations with other nations;

    He and his Administration are under investigation for collusion with Russia and obstruction of justice regarding Russian interference in US elections;

    He believes that torture is a useful instrument of American foreign policy;

    He routinely insults other members of America’s political leadership community;

    He seems far more concerned with scoring political wins than engaging in serious policy dialogue;

    He at times seems unable in his role as President to show genuine compassion to citizens in need;

    He has failed to show respect to some military families who have lost loved ones in war zones;

    He is dismissive of police brutality allegations and has emboldened those appealing to racist sentiments;

    He has long promoted the idea that rather than service, the primary measure of a successful life is extreme financial wealth;

    He overstates his virtues and admits to no shortcomings;

    He has fostered a climate of fear among the populace, sowing division rather than unity;

    He has ridicules physically disabled persons and has slandered undocumented immigrants;

    He has failed to address either the appearance or the reality of clear economic conflicts of interest;

    Our President aspires to govern by his own rules, even though the Divine Right of Kings has been discredited from the beginning
    of our Republic. We are a free people, and we cannot be governed by leaders who do not respect the Presidential office and
    America’s Constitutional democratic tradition.

    We have sought the support of Republican brethren in control of Congress. We have warned them of the rapidly intensifying wind
    that threatens liberty and justice for all. We have appealed to their considerable magnanimity, and we ask them to disavow and
    publicly oppose these disquieting trends. We await their decisive positive action to help bolster our democratic republic.

    Therefore, we, the people of the United States of America, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude
    of our intentions, do solemnly declare that American citizens are absolved from all allegiance to and support for this
    President, and that all political connection and cooperation between President Trump and the citizens of America should
    be totally dissolved.

    And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we, the signers of this
    Declaration, pledge to resist rightly the practices of the Trump Administration in every manner legal, political, and social,
    if Trump’s governance continues to threaten democratic governance and liberty. If the Trump Administration continues on
    its present course, we support a call for President Trump’s removal from office. We pledge our lives, our fortunes, and our
    sacred honor to this righteous cause.
